Twitter is a well-known social network that has changed the aspect of the Internet and that influences the daily life of millions of people. Although you do not believe it and it is that there are exceptions in the world, Twitter is extremely essential to be connected.
But although its operation may seem simple, it has its complication, especially the first time you access Twitter. What is a retweet? Is there any difference between hashtag and trending topic? When you know all these points, you will be ready to use this social network, it is not difficult at all, just do not forget the icons and names and you will use it much faster.
Despite its popularity, there are still many more people, freelancers and companies that do not use it.
Some important steps to start using Twitter
Twitter is the short messages app with that words you can do, think, read, or anything else you want to communicate. You can share some pictures, links to a blog post, a web page, etc. However, on Twitter, reciprocity is not necessary, as in Facebook, for example.
Register in Twitter
Sometimes in the selection of the name people lose some time, we recommend you add numbers or symbols to make this process much faster. Complete your name with other words such as sweet, strong, warrior, etc. Or something people use to identify you that will help you a lot and we make an emphasis because you can waste a lot of time here.
After being registered, you can write your biography and finally configure your photo, name, initial words, etc. If your Twitter account is for your business, the keywords will identify what you are offering as a professional or your company.
The building of your profile is necessary and too mucho important and also you have something more than a lonely message when someone visits your page. Try to publish something that, along with your biography, give people a reason to follow you. Send for example a link to that interesting article that you have read recently.
Start building your network
Find friends and colleagues who are already using Twitter. And follow them. Follow also relevant people from your sector, specialty or topics that interest you (soccer, politics, cooking, music, photography, medicinal plants, or bobbin lace!
When following people, it is usual for courtesy an important percentage to follow you, unless they are “celebrities” or well-known people, who have many followers but follow few.
Every time you decide to follow someone especially interesting, take a look to see who is following. You can find more people to follow. At the beginning try to follow about 100 people. Do not be “very exquisite” at the beginning. Later you will have time to “prune” your network of people that you follow.
Do not be discouraged, at first, tell a little about being followed. But you will see how later it will be much easier for you.
Talking with the people
You can go posting tweets about what you’re doing, if you’re going to use Twitter especially on a personal level. You will have to share mostly valuable content for your followers.
You can also join conversations. You can send a public response to people by putting @ before your username and typing your message. It is not even necessary for that person to follow you or you to follow him. Of course, your answer is also public, any Twitter user can see it.
If you want to send a message to someone privately, you can also do it, but for that you need reciprocity, both of you have to follow them.
If you want to share with your followers a content or brilliant message from any Twitter user, simply retweet it by clicking on a button that appears under each message with the name “Retweet” when you hover your mouse over any message.
You can save a message to read it later or simply save it, leaving it marked as “Favorite” by clicking on the star that appears when you hover over any message.
Through the trending topics and hashtags we can follow the conversations on specific topics that people on Twitter are commenting on. It is as if you entered a cafeteria where each table has a little sign (“hashtag”) that indicates what you are talking about and you could listen to the conversations and you can also talk at any time. You’ve seen it on TV shows: a word or phrase appears on the screen preceded by the “#” sign: that’s a hashtag.
It is also important that you can find communities that will help you grow. Find people who have the same interests as you and you want the same things as you, believe me that will help you to have friends much faster. Connect your social networks completely so that your Facebook and Instagram friends can see that you have a Twitter account and maybe they will follow you.
